Hockey Gear

Properly fitting equipment is key to player safety, confidence, and fun on the ice. Age and experience also help determine the right gear. Here’s a quick guide to common hockey equipment:⁣⁣

⁣⁣

Shin Guards: Protect knees and shins from collisions and pucks.⁣⁣

Hockey Socks: Part of the uniform, worn over shin guards. Game socks will be available for purchase. Your team manager will provide information.

Breezers: Protect hips, thighs, and spine; should fit to the top of shin pads.⁣⁣

Skates: Proper fit is crucial for performance and comfort; regular sharpening is needed.⁣⁣

Shoulder Pads: Guard chest, shoulders, and arms.⁣⁣

Elbow Pads: Protect from falls and collisions; must stay in place.⁣⁣

Practice Jersey: Worn with shoulder pads; should fit comfortably over gear.⁣⁣

Helmet with Face Mask: Critical for head and facial protection; must meet HECC standards.⁣⁣

Neck Guard: Essential for protecting your neck (mandatory).⁣⁣

Gloves: Shield hands and wrists while allowing mobility.⁣⁣

Stick: A straight stick is best for beginners; length should reach the chin with skates on.

(Optional) Moisture-Wicking Undergarments: Keep players warm, dry, and protected from gear.
