Next Up: Youth Nights!

Eagle River, WI – The Eagle River Recreation Association announces two very special Youth Nights in January, celebrating the rich hockey tradition that lives in our small town. These events promise to inspire young athletes and highlight the legacy of hockey in Eagle River.⁣

Northland Pines Boys Hockey Youth Night⁣

On January 7th, the Northland Pines Boys Hockey team will face off against Hayward in the Dome at 7 PM. Youth players, families, and the entire community are invited to attend. Fans are encouraged to wear jerseys (old or new) or red, white, and blue gear to show their support and pride.⁣

Head Coach Zach Otto shared his excitement, "We can’t wait for Youth Night! This night means as much to the Pines Boys as it does to the younger kids who look up to them. It’s more than just a game, it’s a night where we unite the entire Eagle River hockey program and community, creating a true sense of family. It’s the ongoing tradition that continues to grow in our little hockey town of Eagle River.”⁣

This event will bring together hockey players from kindergarten to eighth grade, giving them a chance to support their role models and future coaches. ERRA Hockey Director Crae Riese emphasized the importance of building a strong youth program, “I believe building our Eagle River youth hockey program is the key to preserving and strengthening the tradition of hockey at Northland Pines High School. By supporting our young players, instilling a love for the game, and by building a supportive hockey community, we ensure that the legacy of Northland Pines Hockey continues to be a proud tradition for generations of Eagles to come.” ⁣

Northland Pines Girls Hockey Youth Night⁣

Later in the month, on January 27th at 6 PM, the Northland Pines Girls Hockey team will host Houghton-Hancock. Lady Eagles of all ages will be celebrated as they take the ice together, showcasing the growing strength of the girls hockey program.⁣

Hockey Director Crae Riese reflected on the positive momentum of the Girls program, "In the past couple of years, members of our community have stepped up to support bringing back and building our girls' youth hockey program. It’s been exciting to see new players join our program, from Learn to Play all the way up to our U14 Girls team, and even some past skaters returning to play. Watching them grow, play together, and form lifelong memories and friendships is truly inspiring. We’re committed to continuing this momentum and welcoming more girls to one of the fastest-growing sports for young athletes."⁣

Head Coach Jeff Stebbeds expressed his gratitude for the community’s support, "Our community has rallied behind our Girls program. Seeing these young girls involved at the earliest levels is just as important as watching our high school players succeed, they are the foundation that secures the future of the program." Youth skaters will join their high school hockey idols for a pregame huddle in the locker room and take center ice for the National Anthem. Fans aged 14 and under will be entered into a raffle to win a basket filled with Windigo and Falcon tickets, ERRA merchandise, and concession stand bucks.⁣

Join us in the Dome on January 7th and January 27th to celebrate hockey, community, and the future of our programs. Public is welcome! Students get in free.
