Girls Hockey at The ERRA
According to USA Hockey, girls hockey is one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States. We are dedicated to expanding opportunities for female athletes and bridging together a strong girls program in this exciting sport.
ERRA Girls 6/8U & 10U
While we do not currently offer dedicated girls' teams for our 6U/8 and 10U skaters, these players will have the opportunity to participate in team-building activities our 14U female skaters. Encouraging this age group and providing early experiences in a girls hockey environment is an important step in strengthening our program for the future.
Should My Daughter Play Girls or Youth Team?
For years, the mindset of “keeping your daughter in boys hockey as long as possible” has been common among players and parents, often based on the belief that boys hockey is faster, more physical, and more competitive. While every player's path is unique, it's important to ask...why should girls have to play boys hockey to reach their full potential? The reality is that girls hockey continues to grow, and by investing in strong girls' programs, we can provide an environment where female players don’t just compete they thrive.
Girls teams offer a different but equally valuable experience, with opportunities to develop skills, compete at a high level, and build lifelong connections with teammates facing similar challenges. If your daughter has a great co-ed option that she enjoys, that’s fantastic but don’t overlook the benefits of an all-girls team. Stepping into a new environment can help players grow in ways they never expected, and as more families choose girls hockey, the opportunities will only continue to improve.
